I was once again out sick for this podcast, Episode (Lucky) 66. The rest of the group got to talk all about natural disasters. It’s a shame that I couldn’t be a part of this, because I find forces of nature both interesting and terrifying. In particular, I remember seeing Twister in the theater with my brothers and mom. My mother had to leave the theater because the movie was giving her motion sickness, but I stuck through it and was afterward terrified of tornadoes for a very long time. To the point where if there was a bad thunderstorm outside, I’d be glued to the Weather Channel for hours at a time looking for danger. During one of these Weather channel sessions, I happened to see that there was a tornado touchdown sighted somewhere in central Florida. For a few days that tornado warning dot stayed on the map in that part of Florida; it took a few days more until I realized that I had been looking at Lake Okeechobee.
Anyway, here’s the podcast. Somehow conversation strayed to Lauren revealing how she once believably conducted a rain dance with hot dogs in hand, fully expecting to summon the elements. Since hearing this, I’ve put several packages of Ball Park franks on our roof every time it looks like our crops are wilting.
