I take the El to work most mornings, and one of the highlights of my commute is hearing the talented street performers of Chicago rock out at the Jackson stop.
I’ve heard sweet jazz guitar, classical violin, and John Denver covers, all played by exceptional musicians.
So I was very dismayed this morning to discover the street performer holding a $10 microphone attached to a boom box, and singing mediocore pop music from earlier this year.
I was so shocked and disappointed that I just stared at the guy. Tragically, he thought this meant I was going to give him money, so it only made him sign louder and more off key.
Come on, Chicago Street Performers. You can do better. Pick up an instrument or something. Karaoke is not art.
