For those of you that were not old enough to understand or not even born yet (as I was not), in 1983 attendance at Chicago Cubs games was low. The bleachers were rarely sold out. Many people that attended Cubs games (which were all during the day) were viewed as bums and drunks that either skipped work or didn’t have a job. In 1983, Lee Elia was the embattled Cubs manager at the time and was upset with fans booing the team. He was so annoyed that he let out one of the most famous profanity-laced tirades ever.
