As I was sitting, watching Bride Wars the other night, I realized that I’m not really that into Kate Hudson nor Anne Hathaway. Anne Hathaway suits my tastes a little bit more, but she seems a bit flakey. I generally prefer more stable women with a sense of humor, which in the realm of female celebrities at the moment amounts to Rachel Maddow and Ellen DeGeneres. Only these two women have really caught my fancy. I could actually see myself sitting in a room with them and hearing them talk for more than 5 minutes. But again, not only will we never hang out, they like ladies.
So I wonder, what does this say about me?
I like Rachel Maddow because she is smart (she was a Rhodes scholar and studied at Oxford), she makes me laugh (she wears funny hats sometimes, and is self-aware), she’s very into mixology (I think booze is delicious), and is friendly with people she disagrees with on her show (a lying Nancy Pelosi, hard-line Republicans, and Tea-baggers).
I like Ellen Degeneres for many of the same reasons.
Although I’m not aware of her formal education, her wit and observations on life are hilarious to me. She finds fun almost wherever she goes. She like hot ladies (Portia DeRossi) and I like hot ladies. We both like Tom Hanks, he’s adorable! And she likes playing jokes with Dennis Quaid and I enjoy laughing at them.
Both Ellen and Rachel wear pants suits often – I wear suits. Both enjoy a comfortable pair of sneakers – as do I.
After looking at all this I’ve realized that I’m gay–for women.
